Inspiring Teachers to Inspire Students

ISB’s Logan Center for Education recently kicked off a five-year Principles of Science for Principals (P4P) project with the leadership from the Central Kitsap School District. While many programs and accompanying research have been employed to support science teachers in advancing their practice, there have been few programs designed to support principals and their role as instructional leaders for science teaching and learning. Research suggests that principals are second only to teachers in impacting student learning and achievement, however most principals do not have expertise in STEM or STEM education. Principals have been identified as the number one influence in guiding teachers’ professional growth.
