Xiaowei Yan joined ISB in 2004 after finishing his PhD study at the University of Technology Sydney in Australia, and worked in Bioinformatics since then, with research on oncology, immunology, and erythropoiesis. He was the captain of his college basketball team and a record holder of 3km track running when he was in college. He once worked on Algebra and switched to Computer Science later in 1985. The multiple-discipline training has let him feel very comfortable with his current job in Bioinformatics.
