2025-26 School Year ISB Education Highlights
ISB’s education initiatives continue to grow, from a vibrant Ignite STEM celebration to expanded curriculum use, new modules, active teacher communities, and 10 student researchers in ISB labs. This roundup highlights milestones that showcase the reach and impact of ISB’s education mission across Washington.
2024-25 School Year ISB Education Highlights
This summer at ISB, 12 college interns dove into research and a science-themed book club, while five education programs engaged 150+ high school students in hands-on learning, data science, systems thinking, and leadership – thanks to generous partners and supporters.
Service Meets Science: AmeriCorps at ISB
Since 2021, Claudia McLaughlin Ludwig and the ISB Education team have partnered with Washington Service Corps, an AmeriCorps program, welcoming four AmeriCorps members in various important roles over that timespan. The program will be paused for 2026. Join recent AmeriCorps members Sarah Clemente and Faduma Hussein in reflecting on their time at ISB and the importance of this program to their professional development.
Celebrating the Life and Legacy of Valerie Logan Hood
ISB is deeply saddened to share the passing of Valerie Logan Hood, beloved wife of ISB Co-founder and Professor Dr. Lee Hood. Her lifelong dedication to K-12 education helped create and shape ISB’s programs, and her influence will be felt for generations to come.
