Julie Thatcher has worked in the research administration field since 2010 and joined the Institute for Systems Biology in 2013 where she oversees all grant and contract submissions, award negotiations and non-financial post-awards management. She also directs Research Compliance and provides oversight for ISB’s Executive Assistant team. Julie is a member of the Society of Research Administrators International and is very active in the Federal Demonstration Partnership (FDP). She currently serves on the FDP’s Membership Committee, the Federal Engagement Working Group, and the Expanded Clearinghouse Steering Committee. Previously, she was a Grants Manager at Seattle University and Director of Research Development at Arkansas State University.

Prior to research administration, Julie enjoyed several roles in academic administration, first as a Provost’s Office communications and special projects coordinator and then as Faculty Senate program administrator at The University of Iowa. Next, her student development leadership roles include coordinating a highly successful academic intervention and support program at Ferris State University and directing all learning support services at Arkansas State University. As a former educator, Julie taught college transition seminars and advised first semester probationary students at Ferris State University and is a proud AmeriCorps Teach for America alumnus where she worked with high-risk middle school students and their caregivers in Oakland, California.
