On Tuesday evening, ISB kicked off a brand new fundraising event called “Reimagine: A Night for Scientific Wellness, hosted by Chris and Barb Moe” It was a huge success — 60 guests gathered at The Collective, one of South Lake Union’s newest hot spots. Guests gathered to listen and learn from Drs. Lee Hood, Jim Heath and Sean Gibbons.
The Innovator Award Program at Institute for Systems Biology is an annual internal initiative started in 2017 that aims to stimulate creativity, innovation and collaboration within ISB, to provide funding support for high-risk, high-reward projects, and to develop new technologies and discoveries that will impact the entire research organization.
At our 17th Annual International Symposium, focusing on the Future of Health, we welcomed speakers who are experts in diverse areas including environmental and occupational health, infectious disease transmission and forecast, drug and vaccine development, communicable disease dynamics, and beyond. At the 6th Annual Valerie Logan Luncheon held Thursday, the day’s theme – “Igniting Curiosity, Catalyzing Change” – was evident throughout. Every year, ISB celebrates Valerie Logan, the founder of our education programs, and all her work toward providing K-16 professional development for educators, high school STEM curriculum development, undergraduate research internships, and, crucially, student access to diverse mentors. This year’s event raised a record $140,000 to fund ISB’s education programs.
