Bairong Shen started his bioinformatics research in the June of 1999 and got postdoctoral training in University of Tampere, Finland, after that he was recruited as assistant professor in the beginning of 2014. From 2004 to 2008, he taught 8 courses for graduated students and these covered most of the subfields in Bioinformatics. He returned to China in June of 2008 and was appointed as professor of Systems Biology and started to establish a Center for Systems Biology in Soochow University and acted as the director of the center. He acted as peer reviewer for more than 20 journals such as, Bioinformatics, Briefs in Bioinformatics, Nucleic Acids Research, Journal of Molecular Cell Biology, RNA Biology, Clinical Chemistry, PLoS ONE, BMC Systems Biology, BMC Bioinformatics, BMC Genomics, etc.
He is also the founding chairs both for the International Conference on Translational Biomedical Informatics (ICTBI) and Worldwide Chinese Translational Biomedical Informatics Workshop (WC-TBIW).
Dr. Shen’s research includes bioinformatics and systems biology studies on complex diseases, mostly on biomarker discovery and molecular mechanism study for cancer based on informatics analyses and network modeling. The researches are funded by National Natural Science Foundation of China. He has published more than 75 papers in international Journals in Chemistry, Biology and Medicine.
